The Person Behind the Practice.

Therapy is deeply personal. Choosing the right therapist isn't only about finding someone with the right education or credentials. It's also about finding someone you can trust with the parts of your life that may be difficult to put into words.

Dr. Jasmine believes that meaningful therapy begins with creating that kind of relationship — one rooted in respect, authenticity, collaboration, and the freedom to show up without having to edit who you are.

THE JOURNEY TO MIND OVER MATTER

Education Built the Foundation. People Shaped the Purpose.

Dr. Jasmine's path to becoming a mental health provider has been shaped by both academic rigor and a longstanding commitment to understanding the connection between emotional, relational, and sexual wellness.

She began her academic journey at Morgan State University, earning her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education before continuing her education at Howard University, where she earned her Master of Social Work.

As her clinical work evolved, so did her interest in the ways sexuality, intimacy, identity, relationships, trauma, attachment, culture, and emotional health intersect. That commitment ultimately led her to pursue a PhD in Clinical Sexology through Modern Sex Therapy Institutes.

Sexuality is not separate from mental health. It can be deeply connected to identity, attachment, culture, relationships, confidence, trauma, intimacy, and the way we experience ourselves.

Throughout her career, Dr. Jasmine has worked across community mental health, school-based settings, government agencies, and specialized clinical environments. Her professional experience has also included working with military members and law enforcement professionals, exposing her to a wide range of life experiences, stressors, relationships, and identities.

Those experiences continue to shape the work she does today at Mind Over Matter Therapy — particularly her commitment to providing care that is affirming, culturally responsive, sex-positive, and free from unnecessary judgment or pathologizing.

My goal is not to tell you who to be. It is to help create the space for you to better understand yourself, your experiences, your relationships, and what healing looks like for you.

HER APPROACH

WHAT THERAPY WITH DR. JASMINE CAN FEEL LIKE

Collaborative. Honest & Compassionate.

You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what to say, what needs to change, or even where to begin.

Therapy can be a space to slow things down and begin understanding what is happening beneath the surface — without pressure to perform, explain everything perfectly, or have all the answers.

With Dr. Jasmine, there is room to talk openly about subjects that may feel difficult to discuss elsewhere: trauma, intimacy, sexuality, desire, identity, shame, relationships, boundaries, anxiety, disconnection, and the experiences that have shaped how you see yourself.

Her approach is collaborative and person-centered. Rather than deciding what your relationships, sexuality, identity, or healing should look like, therapy focuses on understanding your experiences, identifying patterns, developing useful tools, and moving toward goals that reflect your life and values.

01

Affirming

Your identity, relationships, and lived experiences are approached with respect.

02

Collaborative

Therapy is something you build together, not something that is done to you.

03

Direct

Difficult conversations can be approached honestly while still being compassionate.

04

Practical

Insight is paired with tools that can support change beyond the therapy session.
